It was a magical day for Holly and Trent who said their “I Do’s” at a gorgeous wedding venue in Napa Valley. We got a chance to hear from the bride herself regarding her planning process for this once in a lifetime event, check it out below!

We knew we wanted to get married somewhere in the Napa/Sonoma area, but were having trouble finding a venue we liked. Everything felt like it had been done before, and we were having trouble finding somewhere that felt like “us”. Frustrated, I google searched “off the beaten path wedding venues”, and the first search result was Off the Beaten Path Weddings, who ended up becoming our wedding planners! They took us on a venue search, and I knew right when we drove up to the first property that it was the one. It was so lush and green, and made you feel like you were stepping out of reality, which was exactly what we wanted. I couldn’t be happier with our choice, because we were able to create a better wedding than we could have dreamed of.

I have to admit, we were very (emphasis on the very) trusting of OTBPW, as we essentially had them do it all. Not only were they our wedding planners, but they were our wedding designers, caterers, and florists. Besides photography and videography, they were essentially a one-stop-shop in terms of being the vendor for all other aspects of the wedding. We gave them a ton of creative freedom in color choices and table settings and fabric, and I didn’t even know what our florals were going to look like until the wedding day itself. I am SO happy I did this, because they knew the property so well and they knew what would work and look the best, and they 100% knocked it out of the park. I would recommend to any bride to trust your vendors, especially if they are intimately familiar with your venue, because they’ve seen what works and what doesn’t, and just have the best eye for what will make it look magical.

It is hard to pick out a favorite detail and memory from the day, because I absolutely loved all of it. We had all of our favorite people in the same place to celebrate with us, which created such a unique and special feeling throughout the entire day. I have to give a shout out here to our photographer, Krista Marie Photography, because my absolute favorite thing about the day is that she was able to capture this feeling through her photos, and it comes back to me every time I look through our pictures from the day. It is funny how much time and work you put into planning a wedding for it all to be over within a matter of hours, so it is so important that it is not only captured, but captured well. When we were choosing a wedding photographer, it was so important to us that we chose someone whose style really resonated with us and someone who we felt comfortable with. We wanted our pictures to be more natural as we wanted to capture the feeling and the day exactly as it was, and we wanted whoever we were going to work with to be comfortable around us and our family and friends to be able to integrate into the day and get the shots they loved.

All in all, to all brides out there, I would say choose what makes you comfortable, but don’t be afraid to go outside the box. Make sure you are sure in your gut when choosing your vendors since you’ll be working with them closely for a long period of time and they will be the ones curating something you will look back on for the rest of your life. But don’t be afraid to take a chance with creativity and let the professionals do what they are best at! Its amazing what happens when everyone is able to pour their passion into what they are creating.
