Wedding Details

The Thursday before the wedding we did the traditional bed making at our home.  Our first night at our home was our wedding night.  So a few of my unmarried girlfriends made our bed, put wedding almonds on it making our initials, throwing rose petals.  Then the family members and friends throw rice and money on the bed also a kid! Friday night was the rehearsal dinner.  Saturday we didn’t see eachother.  My house was crazy packed with family and friends, we roasted a lamb and danced until late that night.

The day of our wedding… It was cloudy and misty.. but it didn’t stop me.  We had a 3piece Greek band come to the house and start playing music around 11am.  When it was time to go to church, I walked 3 blocks in my 4″ heels with the misty air hitting my face.  I didn’t care, I wanted to walk to church with the music playing ahead of us.  We were around 65 people in total walking to the church, we didn’t care, we walked in the middle of the street and caused traffic!  I was very calm, didn’t cry at all, I just wanted to finally be his wife.  My husband was tearing while watching me walk down the isle.  I never took my eyes off him.  We went to Untermyer Park in Yonkers for our pictures.  I actually got a really bad migraine after the ceremony and was vomiting during my pictures.  My photographer told me we could do a reshoot but I was determined to get my pictures in.  I really trooped it out but unfortunately missed my whole cocktail hour.  By the time the reception came, I was 100% better thanks to some bread and gatorade.  No one even knew I was sick, they just thought I was busy taking pictures.

Advice for Fellow Coordinated Brides

My advice… Marriage should be a 1 time deal.  I told my husband when we met, divorce is not an option for me.  There will be days where we will fight, won’t speak to eachother and just want nothing to do with one another… But they don’t come close to comparing to the days we are happy, laughing, loving and protecting one another.  For years I have been telling my husband, you come first in my life.  When we saw the Priest to set up our wedding, he told us exactly what I have been saying all these years, that we must put eachother first.  Our families and friends come after.

So with that being said, a wedding should also be a 1 time deal.  Do it right.  If you have a small budget to work with, invite less people and get exactly what you want. Do NOT cheap out on a photographer, that is the most important vendor for your wedding.  Your pictures are all you have left, so invest in a really good photographer.
