From the Bride: About Us
I’d like to say it was love at first site for Valere, but he is just a little shy and doesn’t like sharing such information..Lol. Anyways, Valere and I met in 2008 at Bloomingdales in Aventura mall where we worked as sales representatives. I worked in women handbags/ accessories and he worked in shoes. At that time I completed my undergraduate studies and was in pursuit of furthering my education as a physical therapist at Florida International University. , Valere was in pursuit of completing his MBA in Finance to establish a steady foundation. We both had the same value system, Valere being from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and me descending from Haitian natives, we were instilled with strong morals and beliefs. Which I believe drew us closer together. After some time of countless conversations and dates our friendship continued to grow, as well as our love. As he mentioned to a mutual friend of ours “That is my wife”….lol 😉
Proposal
Fast forward to June 15th, 2013, three days after my birthday, Valere decided to make his intuition a reality. Valere along with the help of my best friend arranged a surprise birthday dinner at Mai kai Polynesian Restaurant with a few of our closest friends and family. While we were eating and enjoying the dinner show, the MC sent dancers throughout the audience to select a few people to come on stage and join the dancers. We happened to be one of the chosen ones to go up on stage and we remained on stage after the show ended. As we both stood there the MC proceeded to ask me my reasons for coming out that night and if I knew why I was still on the stage. She then mentioned that Valere had an important message that he wanted to share with me. Before I knew it valere got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It took a few seconds for me to realize what just happened but with a lot of emotion I answered YES!
Now almost two years later we’re finally married and couldn’t be more excited. In him, I see a confidante, a lover, a friend and someone to take on the world with. Finding this kind of love is so rare but we both cherish and revel in it. Knowing somehow, we made it to each other and that this is meant to be.
