Tanisha and Jay’s Miami wedding took place on a beautiful Spring day in April. Their ivory, gold and black wedding coordinated all the lush and glamorous touches that make for an elegant affair.
Tanisha met Jay while working as a founding teacher at KIPP Impact Middle School. At the time, the only thing that she knew about Jay was that he was helping out with the music program at the school.
Her Story
Jay quickly went from being the new teacher to the one that gave the most consequences to students. Day after day I received a room full angry students from Jay, which became the WORST part of my day. Ha! One day I stayed late and ran into Jay. This was our first conversation that was not about angry students. I asked, “Where are you from?” He said, “I’m from Cleveland,” in a swagger filled voice. I did a double take. He then asked me where I was from, and I replied, “Miami.” His next words were, “We can’t be friends.” I laughed of course because in my mind we couldn’t be friends because of the angry students he dropped off daily. Well, one thing led to another and Jay (the person who didn’t want to be friends) invited himself to my house to watch basketball. Jay would come over and watch games while I sat at my laptop cranking out lesson plans. After a few weeks of this he invited me to a Diane Reeves concert. I was hesitant because the Miami Heat were playing the Denver Nuggets, and I didn’t like missing games. I went, and the rest is HIStory!
