Khadija and Pat went to high school together, but didn’t really cross paths at that time because he was a couple years older. They eventually then ran into each other in a bar in Seattle. He proceeded to follow her to a few more bars throughout the evening and let’s just say the rest was history! The two went on a last-minute trip to Amsterdam and after a day of exploring the city, he popped the question in the privacy of their hotel room, where she happily said yes!

If we had to describe Khadija and Pat’s wedding the words classic with a bit of glamour comes right to mind! Their intimate New Years Eve wedding brought both romance and sparkle to their guests. We got the chance to learn a bit more about the couple and their wedding planning experience as well, read more about it below!

What was your color palette and your style vision?
“We got married on New Year’s Eve at the encouragement of a few friends so we wanted some sparkle, but also for it to feel simple, intimate and romantic. So, we went with black, white and gold.”

What was your favorite moment?
“Our personal vows. It was amazing how much they matched in tone and style. They were loving, funny and just perfect for the two of us, which makes sense since we wrote them! Of course, dancing into the New Year was also a highlight for us.”

Describe your wedding day in your own words
“It was exactly like the two of us. Very, very relaxed and fun. We slept in, got ready around noon, took pictures and then had time before our ceremony to lounge in bathrobes at the hotel, eating french fries and champagne. During the actual wedding, everything just fell into place perfectly. We love a celebration and to be able to share the day with our closest family and friends was amazing.”

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?
“Get a wedding planner and don’t worry too much about details. Also, you won’t be able to have long conversations with all your guests so do what you can, but enjoy yourself! “
