Kathryn and Shawn were married on a crisp Autumn day in North Carolina. The vision for their wedding was laid back with a mix of industrial and rustic touches. Kathryn and Shawn selected Summerfield Farms in Summerfield, NC as their venue for a multitude of reasons. The venue is a working farm supplying beef, produce, and other local products daily to the community and the exclusive caterer focuses on local and seasonal cuisine.
The ceremony was beautiful, heartfelt, and funny – just like Kathryn and Shawn. Guests witnessed the two tie the knot by the picturesque pole barn underneath a canopy of autumn trees. Before everyone danced the night away, guests dined on a Pescatarian menu and local desserts. It was very important to both Kathryn and Shawn that their menu reflect their beliefs so cocktail hour and dinner were completely meat free. The overall event design for the day was based around a seasonal but colorful palette with cabernet, grey, blush, and mix metal touches. They coordinated vintage pieces with more modern linen patterns along with hundreds of hanging lights to truly bring Kathryn and Shawn’s vision to life!
Some favorite moments from the day were – Shawn’s entrance to the ceremony to the “Imperial March” from Star Wars- When Kathryn made it to the end of the aisle and Shawn promptly planted a kiss on her lips! Kathryn pushed him back and gave him a laughing “not until the end of the ceremony!!” – The “mutual weirdness forever” details, based on the quote
“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” by Dr. Seuss.
So perfect for these two!
