Nadia and Brendan shared a romantic wedding ceremony at Room 1520 in Chicago surrounded by their closest family and friends. Their dear friend Doug performed the ceremony, a heartfelt, intimate, romantic and fun ceremony that was true to Nadia and Brendan. Nadia and Brendan’s story goes way back – back to when Nadia was 3 and Brendan was 5! These two grew up in Georgia. Though it wasn’t until a trivia night on a Tuesday in Chicago that they reconnected and started to fall in love with each other.

“At Trivia on a Tuesday in Chicago is the short story but the long story goes back to GA where we are both from when I was 3 and he was 5 🙂 Brendan surprised me in Mexico! We went back to the resort that we went to on our first “big trip” together, and he asked me to marry him on the first night we were there. It was hilarious because I convinced myself that he wasn’t going to propose. Everyone we encountered when we got off the plane kept asking us what we were celebrating but didn’t want to get my hopes up.  So you can imagine my total surprise and excitement when we opened a bottle of champagne… And then Brendan took me out on the balcony and got down on one knee.  We spent the whole week in total bliss and excitement!”

When we started planning our wedding, the one thing that we kept coming back to was: we wanted an evening filled with love and with our closet family and friends. And from there the final product began to evolve. We knew we wanted a heart felt, intimate and romantic feel. Then came the colors: blush (which really morphed into more of a dusty rose), rose gold, navy (Brendan’s Favorite color) and white. Picking colors seemed to come easily and actually surprised me because my favorite color is purple and it wasn’t included in the color palette. I guess purple is just for me :). As far as religious  and cultural traditions, we both come from blended religious families and I come from a mixed cultural family. We decided to stick with our theme of love and intimacy and asked a close friend of my to officiate the  wedding. We incorporated my Syrian background and served all Mediterranean food (family style of course) and people can not stop talking about it!

My dad customized almost every piece of decor which is beyond special to me. The space was already beautiful and we just wanted to find a way to enhance it. Every piece of decor was made with love and one of a kind for our wedding. I am so grateful for what my mom and dad did for us!

So my dress was the very first dress I tried on. We got engaged only the week before I bought my dress. So when I told Brendan I already bought a dress he laughed and said I guess you now what you want! The colors allowed us to find the most beautiful combination of outfits (in my opinion). The ladies picked their own dresses with a color and length in mind and they all looked stunning. The mention had the suits custom made for the wedding and then were so handsome – Brendan was the most handsome in my opinion.

Our most favorite part of the wedding was seeing each other for the first time because we didn’t do a first look and then those few minutes after the ceremony where it was just us! Our menu was highly personalized and our caterer was so great working with us to make it perfect. We are also both from GA so we had late night chick-fil-a sandwiches delivered on silver platters- everyone is still talking about it.

The whole day was highly anticipated. But I think it started with our special moments with our immediate family members, accompanied with the butterflies our stomachs waiting to see each other! We also choreographed our 1st dance which was so fun and we actually learned a little more about each other through the process. Our vows, the food, the dance floor. Really the whole night was filled with love, happiness and butterflies.

Advice for Coordinated Brides

Stick to what matter most to both of you. Lean on each other and remember the wedding is only a day/night – the real stuff comes later. Enjoy the moments as they turn into memories.

Room 1520 looked incredible from top to bottom with the blush pink, navy, gold, greenery, and romantic decor. From the location to the loft style space to the rooftop skyline views… Heart eyes!

The day started at the Sheraton Grand downtown. The space was filled with excitement and eager anticipation for the day ahead! And of course, the guys spent the morning relaxing and playing Nintendo in their suite.

As everyone finished preparations for the day, the photographer Kara Evans set aside a few moments for Nadia to share with her mom and sister. Then, Nadia shared an emotional reveal with her dad. Then, it was time to walk to the Wrigley Building for some pre-ceremony photos. What you might not know is that this early May wedding day was a bit chilly around 55 degrees AND windy. Despite the weather, Nadia, Brendan, and their most favorite people were amazing through it all!
