Olivia and Cameron’s Fall wedding was one of those days that you will forever look back on and go WOW! It started with perfect weather and ended with love and joy throughout all of the guest and the couple. We absolutely love how the colors coordinate so effortlessly, from the bridesmaid dresses, to the groom & groomsmen suit color, to the bouquets.

The Coordinated Bride, Oliva answered a few questions for us.

Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: We met our Freshman year of college at ECU! We knew early on that we were meant for each other. We dated for a little over 5 years before Cam planned a surprise proposal in my hometown with all of our favorite people! I am from Lake Norman where most of my family still lives. We drove my mom’s boat over to my Granny’s house and right when we got off of the boat he popped down on one knee, of course I said YES. All of my family and friends were hiding in the house and came out to surprise me!

Q: What was the inspiration behind your day?

A: When thinking about venues, I knew I wanted something a little classier, but my husband is a country boy who wanted something more on the rustic side. Fussell Farm was the perfect mix between the two! It has a barn with beautiful lights and white draping with views of the mountains. We wanted an outdoor wedding with views that would make for great pictures. Being in the mountains, we went with October and created all of the fall vibes. We did a terracotta color and had mostly neutrals and gold decorations to compliment that. We kept a pretty traditional ceremony.

Q: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

A: We wanted simple decorations because the venue really was beautiful by itself and we wanted to feature that. We focused on the florals being the center of attention as the centerpieces.  We created our own signage for the bar sign, welcome sign, seating arrangement, and memory table.  We also created wine labels for the table numbers and had the wine opened ready for the guests to enjoy. My stepdad also made our sweetheart table and our arbor!

Q: What were the florals like in your wedding?

A: The florals were one of our favorite parts! We used florals for our arbor, bouquets, and centerpieces. I also had white roses lining the aisle as I walked down. The floral colors really brought out the entire theme. We had terracotta bridesmaid dresses and navy groomsmen suits and the florals matched perfectly to that. The florals were a huge part in the style!

Q: What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

A: We had a band that played for the reception and that really created the reception mood and was so much fun! We wanted to have a fun reception so made sure there were plenty of drinks and dancing. We did a firework exit to end the night which made for great pictures. Fussell also has beautiful cabins right across the street that the entire wedding party stayed in which was so fun and convenient for the entire weekend to spend with our favorite people!

Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

A: Being that the reception was in a barn and it was an outdoor ceremony I did not want anything too fancy for my dress. I ended up going with a lace dress that had a peephole back and tiny off the shoulder straps. It was a tight fit with a long train. The back of my dress had a lot going on so I did a fingertip veil that had sequins on the edge of it to add a little something. I wanted people to be able to see the back of the dress because it was my favorite part! Cam ended up choosing suits from the suit shop and all of the guys had the matching one! I had a low bun because again I wanted to show off the back of the dress. I did a more natural makeup look with it!

Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

A: The most anticipated moment was walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time at the altar. We did not do a first look so this was such a special moment. We both got very emotional! I was so nervous because I hate being the center of attention but right when I saw him and held his hands, all of my nerves went away.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: I would recommend a wedding planner!! Without Lori, I truly do not think I could have pulled it off. They are so knowledgeable about vendors and know how to take your ideas and create the most perfect day. She thought of all the small details that we never would have planned for. Lori and her team also made sure everything went smoothly the day of! Also, hire a videographer, it is SO worth it! We know we can always look back and relive our special day thanks to Drew! The planning stage can be so stressful, but I would say to just have fun and enjoy being engaged because it flies by!!
