This “Majestic” styled shoot coordinates classic glamour with modern elegance. The colors of the shoot included hues of purple, fuchsia, burgundy, and black and white. Erika of Erika’s Elegance Weddings & Events chose a beautiful venue which has been historically preserved by the National Register of Historic Places. The Majestic in Downtown Los Angeles was originally a bank, built in 1924 during an era were the architectural structure of buildings were graced with high columns, marble flooring, tall ceilings and grand stairways, which the Majestic had all of and was the perfect place to style the shoot. Along with the Majestic’s sculpted marble columns, original marble floors, arched windows, crystal chandeliers, and high-end frescoed Italian ceilings, the collaborators behind the shoot were able to coordinate modern elements through the decor and details while preserving the classic elegance that they were looking for.
The entire team especially drew inspiration for decor and details from the original bank vault still located within the building. Circle elements were used throughout the design to complement the vault door – including within the tabletop stationery and details, the ceremony backdrop, the reception centerpiece, the cake, and the dance floor.
The custom invitation suite and tabletop stationery was created by Azure Invitations in a luxurious classic regency style, embellished with shimmery crystals. The design motif explored patterned arches, drawing inspiration from the architectural details as well as the modern elements of the shoot. The invitation suite was set in a black satin panel and embellished with a black ribbon and rose shaped crystal brooch to add to the luxurious elegance throughout the design.
Oceanic Flowers created an amazing rounded floral arch with vivid blooms to compliment the design of the space and highlight the bank vault. HCD Portable Dance Floor collaborated with the Stationery designer to design lyrics from the song by John Legend onto the custom circular dance-floor. A round floor framed with a deep purple velvet pipe and drape and with romantic purple lighting.
Classic glass and silver chargers were set with scalloped dinnerware and black glass stemware and matte black flatware to bring out the modern elegance of the event design.
The sweetheart table was uniquely draped in black velvet linen. For the rest of the guest tables and the cake, they chose black tempered glass and chrome tables. The settings were perfectly coordinated with the luxurious black and white satin menus with rhinestone details created by Azure Invitations.
The design of the cake followed the elegant and modern vision for the styled shoot, taking inspiration from architectural features of the space but was also inspired by the work of fashion icon Alexander McQueen.
