Nick & Jennifer’s Lucas Farms, White Barn wedding day was absolutely gorgeous! The White Barn is a new venue in Oakland, MD and is the perfect combination of rustic, modern & elegant combined. The barn has a very elegant charm to it. It is decorated with beautiful mirrors, vintage couches, and a gorgeous chandelier to name a few. Outside you can find a pond, pergola, silo, and fire pit.   Their palette of blush, mauve & maroon was so perfect for a June wedding.

The bride was in nursing school when she met Katie, a mutual friend who introduced them. Jennifer and Katie were both single and decided they would each bring a friend and go as a group to their nursing formal. The bride’s friend Katie brought Nick (groom) as her friend. Jennifer and Nick met at the dinner before the formal and hung out all night. Two nights later they hung out with mutual friend again. Nick asked for Jennifer’s number that night and the rest is history. Exactly 3 years later on the exact night they met, in the exact restaurant they went to before the nursing formal, Nick got down on one knee and proposed. If that isn’t cute enough, he used their beautiful daughter to do it. She had on onesie that said “Mommy will you marry daddy?”

Jennifer has always loved the form fitted look of the mermaid dresses so for her it was no contest. Nick went with Navy tuxes that absolutely coordinated with the pinks and mauve of the wedding palette. It was also a very clean yet different look than black.

Nick & Jennifer had chosen to do a ‘First Look’ before the ceremony to allow for more portrait time. Outdoor portraits were one of Jennifer’s main focuses for her wedding day, especially since they were expecting rain.

The couple was scheduled to be married outdoors overlooking the ponds of Lucas Farms but mother nature had other plans. The staff of Lucas Farms worked hard to move the ceremony from outdoors to indoors, to outdoors and back indoors when the rain hit. All the while, Jennifer & Nick remained overall calm and simply happy to be surrounded by family and friends on such a special day.

They incorporated a Celtic tradition called handfasting into the ceremony. A knot is tied for each vow signifying the bond and commitment of each one.

The venue was decorated with a lot of floral arrangements; mason jars with flowers, lanterns, and cylinder hurricanes as the centerpieces. There were blush sequin table runners and a blush sequin sweetheart tablecloth. The couple also incorporated a memorial table in remembrance of those that couldn’t be with them on their wedding day. They had a wedding sign made by the White Barn owner and their wedding coordinator – Brittney Lucas. They also had large barrels with huge floral arrangements on each one. Lastly, they had a cigar bar incorporated into the actual bar. It was a huge hit.

Our best advice to give is during your wedding day to just stop! Stop as many times as you can during the day. Stop and take it all in. Take mental pictures in your head. Remember how you felt and what was happening at that moment. It’s easy for the day to be gone in the blink of an eye and all you are left with are moments and blurs – The Coordinated Bride, Jennifer
