Annie Jean-Baptiste and Todd Bullock have been together for a little over 5 years. they got engaged last year on Annie’s parent’s 30th wedding anniversary. The couple is set to tie the knot on June 10, 2017 in San Francisco. They recently had their engagement shoot which we are head over heels in love with.
Being the stubborn person that Annie is, she decided to do one last pageant before taking a long hiatus. Not wanting to drag Todd to yet another pageant, he stayed home. After finals, Annie was preparing to leave, when Todd texted, “You were amazing!” Annie thought little of it, as Todd is always encouraging, even from afar. She decided to go about her day and tried to get an Uber to head back to the hotel. Of course, she couldn’t find one, so she kept ignoring Todd’s MANY calls and focused on the task at hand. Finally, a friend offered to drive her to the hotel, and as she was in the car, Todd called again. “I’M HERE!” he said, panicking because he thought Annie was already back on a flight to San Francisco!
They met back at the hotel, where Annie of course began to cry, due to exhaustion from the weekend, but also for Todd driving 6 hours to watch her final pageant. Todd told Annie that he had reserved a nice dinner, which she wanted to skip and go home, but off they went.
The two drove to Yamashiro, a restaurant in LA on a hill, overlooking all of downtown LA. As the sun was setting, they were walking around the beautiful koi pond and Japanese garden. After walking for a while, they came across a beautiful, majestic tree. “That’s a pretty tree, what kind do you think it is?” Todd asked. Annie, not a horticulturist by trade, was confused as to what to respond, and as she was turning around for the tree, Todd was getting down on one knee. The two got engaged at 12AM EST–Annie’s parents’ 30th anniversary!
From the Bride to Be on all things wedding
The theme for the wedding is approachable glamour. Lots of candles, trees, rose gold accents and tons of fun. We are a multicultural couple (Haitian, Portuguese, Irish,Scottish) so it will definitely be a party. Our venues are so beautiful and grand on their own, that we want to add to it, and that means minimalist in some areas and over the top in others! We’ll have a few surprises for our guests as well!
By the time we get married we will have been engaged for a year and ten months, so wedding planning has mostly just been fun! We’ve loved involving my friends and family in the process. We recently had our tailor fly in from Thailand to measure the groomsmen for suits and we made a big party out of it!
Advice for fellow Coordinated Brides:
Remember that this is your day, and it’s about your love. If there are traditions you don’t like, cut them. If there are too many cooks in the kitchen, politely ask them to step back (or find a way for them to provide input that doesn’t stress you out.) And get a coordinator or planner for the big day! Remember to have fun-we’ve tried to add little get togethers and parties already to thank those we love the most for celebrating with us!
We wish all the best to Annie and Todd as they countdown to their wedding day!
