We had such an awesome time shooting our engagement photos. Accompanied by our photographer, wedding planner, and a close friend, we ventured to the Washington Harbour in historic Georgetown DC under the Whitehurst Freeway Bridge for the first part of our engagement photo shoot.

Zekeera a proud Georgetown graduate, #GoHoyas, remembered having to run that same path under the bridge when she was playing basketball at the university. She thought it would be the perfect backdrop to the rugged, but classy “Z&T in the City” feel we were going for. We rented an antique car, threw on some leather jackets, I slapped a certified lipstick bandit fierce red lip on and BAM……… got our “Sex and the City meets Bonnie and Clyde” shoot started. With this part of the shoot we wanted to show the more fun and eclectic side of both of our personalities. While I am such a girly girl that just loves lipsticks and heels, Zekeera is more of a tomboy. We wanted this section of the shoot to have somewhat of a grungy-chic look while incorporating a city feel, since my fiancée is from Harlem, NYC.

The Library of Congress is such a beautiful space in DC. With its high arches, marble columns, intricate flooring and ceilings, I just fell in love with the exquisite architecture of the building. I knew this had to be the second location for our shoot. Since our wedding next August is a black tie event, the “Black and Gold Summer Ball”, we decided to go with more formal attire. Zekeera wore a traditional black tux while I wore a Carmen Marc Valvo Goddess gown. Although the shoot was on a crowded Saturday morning with the building full of tourists, it really did feel like it was all about us and we were the only ones there. We playfully shared intimate kisses as tourists walked by snapping pictures of us LOL. We laughed and joked as we navigated our way through the corridors and posed standing next to marble columns and sat on wooden benches. Like teenagers on a school trip, we snuck in private areas to take advantage of some of the sunlight filled hallways and breathtaking archways. We just could not get enough of the beauty around every corner!!!
