Bride Ballers

Hello Coordinated Brides,

Hopefully your wedding planning process has been stress free and you haven’t turned into a Bridezilla yet (I’ve come close!). Today’s post will be about my bride tribe… also known as “Bride’s Ballers”. I call them that because six out of seven of them have played collegiate sports. A quick fact about me… I played basketball at the University of Illinois. Now on to my crew! Nia, Alexis, and Kierra are three of my teammates from Illinois. We met going into our freshman year on campus in 2011 and have been sisters ever since. I always knew that whenever I got married they would be my bridesmaids. Kiana and Cherise are Kenny’s sisters and both played collegiate soccer. Kiana played at Temple University and Cherise at Wagner.  Kiana is a dope mom to Quincy, who is one of our ring bearers. You always hear horror stories about in-laws but let me tell you, Kenny’s family has been a Godsend. I’m so blessed to have a relationship with them outside of Kenny so I never felt obligated to include them in my bridal party. I genuinely wanted them to be a part of my tribe.

Next is my big cousin Ashley. She didn’t play sports in college but I have always looked up to her and she’s KILLING real estate investing in the Atlanta area. She’s an awesome wife and mom to my little cousin’s Grayson and Presley, who are also in our bridal party as a flower girl and ring bearer. I saved the best for last. My Maid of Honor and little sister, Morgan. She played basketball at UConn (and won FOUR national championships). Side note: She also brought home a gold medal from the FIBA World Cup and now plays in the WNBA with the Connecticut Sun. Oh, and I can’t forget that she bought my wedding dress…MAID OF HONOR GOALS! Morgan literally my best friend. We talk about any and everything and she may be the only person that knows me better than Kenny does.

The proposal

My crew is in 5 different states so I was limited in how I could ‘propose’ to them. None of them were all the same but I sent all of them either a box or package that included a combination of things that I’m obsessed with: a mug that said bridesmaid or maid of honor, a candle (scented “Happily Ever After”), a framed picture of me and them, and our save-the-date. I forgot to take pictures of my proposal boxes and I totally regret it! If you are planning your wedding, remember to document everything, you’ll be thankful later. Kenny made proposal boxes for his groomsmen and best man also. We even proposed to our three flower girls, three ring bearers, and officiant who happens to be Kenny’s aunt.

Thank you girls for sharing my special day with me, I cant wait to see you own the aisle!
