The Picture Perfect Paris Proposal
Never did Stephanie think in March of 2011 that she was meeting her Prince who would get down on one knee five years later in Paris, but that’s exactly what happened.
How They Met: Prince and Stephanie were introduced by a mutual friend in March of 2011. Prince says he met Stephanie months before, but that is still up for debate. In March of 2011, the two became friends instantly. That may have something to do with Stephanie having to take care of Prince their first outing together ( he was a bit too intoxicated for his own good). The bond they formed was genuine. In the summer of 2011, the two were both out at a club one night when Prince took Stephanie’s ring from her middle finger and placed it on her ring finger as they agreed to get married. Their honeymoon of choice would be: Fiji. It would be a couple of months before Prince asked Stephanie on a “real” date. They enrolled into the same speech class at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and enjoyed lunch in the school cafeteria with friends daily.
Their First Date: Finally, on August 26, 2011, Prince asked Stephanie to be his date to the preseason Colts game against the Greenbay Packers. Stephanie did not allow Prince to pick her up for the date, she was in denial that it was an actual date and not just two friends hanging out. Prince and Stephanie went and ate at Champps downtown before walking hand-in-hand to the game. It was the couple’s last first date ever!
How He Proposed: Prince gifted Stephanie with a trip to Paris for Christmas in 2015. The flights were not until March of 2016. The two would celebrate Prince’s birthday in Paris and fly to Venice for another leg of the trip. After a three-month countdown, Prince and Stephanie left on Easter Day and would arrive in Paris the next morning. It was a crummy day in Paris, the rain hardly let up, but the couple set out for a day of exploring. Prince was walking around with his backpack. It’s now clear why. After stops at the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Galeries Lafayette, the two set back to their hotel to freshen up for the night. Prince told Stephanie he wanted “to start the trip off right and eat at a fancy restaurant.” The concierge desk suggested they eat at a restaurant that overlooked the Eiffel Tower. Once dressed, Prince suggested they walk. The Eiffel Tower was only a mile from their hotel, so they walked, in the rain, her in heels. Somehow the directions to the restaurant were not very clear. They’d ask gift shop clerks and taxi drivers, still no restaurant. Stephanie suggested that she and Prince go take pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower, while they figured it out. As they walked towards the Tower, the sky miraculously cleared and the lights lit up. A guy handed Stephanie roses, ones she tried to refuse. Prince paid for them and they looked for the perfect spot for their pictures in front of the tower. A random guy walked by as Stephanie was taking pictures of Prince and offered to take a picture of the two. Graciously, they said yes! One or two pictures later, Prince said, “Wait, can we get one more?” At that moment Stephanie said she knew what was coming, as Prince was the last guy on earth to ask anyone for a picture. He turned to Stephanie and said, “You know you mean the world to me…” and as he was getting down on one knee, Stephanie told him not to since the ground was muddy. He ignored her request, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Stephanie excitedly said “YES!” Prince then said, “So, 7-7-17?” It’s the date the two said they’d always get married on.
The Wedding Planning Process: Prince and Stephanie will have their Sikh wedding ceremony on July 7, 2017 at Prince’s family’s Sikh Temple. On July 8, 2017, Prince and Stephanie will have their American wedding ceremony outdoors on the canal in downtown Indianapolis followed by a joint-reception with about 300 people at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis. Stephanie hit the ground running with planning, and six months into the planning process, she feels she has a hold on the major details but many of the little details she changes her mind on every day. The couple has their venues booked, their music selection for the ceremony booked, and the videographer and photographer booked. Stephanie has said yes to the dress, well one of three, anyway. The groom’s best friends have planned an epic bachelor party already and Stephanie’s maid of honor has already booked a house for the bride’s bachelorette party. It’s important for the couple to try and enjoy every aspect of this process as possible.
At this current moment, Stephanie is working to nail down exact details on stage décor for the reception and the florist for all three events. While planning two different ceremonies with two cultures in mind, it is difficult, but Stephanie is doing her best to keep a uniformed look and trying to keep everyone as happy as can be. Daily, she gets a dosage of Pinterest and YouTube to add to her creative and elegant vision. Stephanie and Prince’s key motto is “P.S. I Love You” and the two hope to capture that in their wedding this year. It will be an elegant, romantic, fun multi-cultural wedding!
The couple had their engagement photo shoot on the canal in downtown Indianapolis. A place that is meaningful to the couple, not only because they ran and exercised here in their dating years, but it is also where they will say their vows next July! The look of the shoot was to capture the American bride and groom with the Indian bride and groom look, so that the save-the-dates can combine both looks for guests.
P.S. We hope you are able to follow us on our journey for the next few months as we execute the wedding of our dreams in front of the people we love the most!!!
XOXO,
Stephanie
