Showered With Love
I must say that I have enjoyed every minute of this process. At times it can be stressful but there is an inner joy that keeps me going. After months of planning and completing checklists, I have finally arrived at the inauguration of our wedding festivities: my bridal shower!
CHAMPAGNE WISHES AND HOLLYWOOD DREAMS
I thought that I would be such the bridezilla, but during this process I have discovered that I just wanna get married. LOL! With that being said, I left my bridal shower plans solely up to my Maid of Honor, Chaunte. I knew that she would spearhead something wonderful for me. The labor of love was ever-present. My Notorious Nine came up with the theme of Champagne Wishes and Hollywood Dreams, which is unique and perfect for me. I love champagne and bottle popping is my favorite sound! I am also a little Hollywood but not in the bad sense. I have the tendency to be the life of the party…when I used to party. It’s a wonderful characteristic I inherited from my mom. I asked 2 questions about the shower: the location and the menu. Everything else was out of my hands.
It was truly a wonderful experience walking into a room created just for me filled with people who wanted to celebrate me. I felt the love. My shower was held at Times Ten Cellars, a chic winery. I put together the perfect outfit with the approval of my MOH Ashlee. I wore a white sequin BCBG dress that hugged my curves. But to take the dress from club-ish to elegant, I added a white tulle floor length skirt. Tulle definitely makes one feel like a princess. I was gliding honey! As I glided into the shower they played my favorite artist singing “Hollywood” with her hubs: Beyoncé. I felt like Beyoncé! Everyone was taking pictures and oohing and aahing. It made me feel bashful for a second. But I snapped back in to Hollywood mode to check out the scene. The room was wonderfully decorated in black and gold with Hollywood elements like cameras and director slates, and beautiful gold dipped champagne bottles. These things complemented the natural beauty of the room very well.
I typically do not like playing shower games but the Notorious Nine put together some great games and activities. They gave me a Newlywed Game style challenge in which I had to answer questions the same as my fiancé answered. I am proud to say that I know my man! They put together a scramble of my favorite Beyoncé songs because you can’t talk about me without talking about Beyoncé. They also put together a “Before They Were Famous” game where they had pictures of both my fiancé and me at different ages. My guests had to guess our ages. My favorite part of the day was when a representative from each part of my life gave well wishes. That was a tearful moment. It felt good to hear people speak on my character and have positive, loving things to say.
Right as my friends and family were ending their speeches, the door swung open and in walked my fiancé! Time always stands still when I see him enter a room. He handed me some beautiful hydrangeas and gave me his well wishes. I was so excited to see him. When I had left that morning, I was tore up from the floor up. I am glad he got to see me looking glamorous. Everyone was so excited to see him and we spent the remaining time taking pictures. We didn’t even get a chance to open gifts due to time but I took them home and opened them up with my bridesmaids. We drank wine and had girly conversation. It was the perfect way to end the perfect day.
My bridal shower was something that I will definitely remember. I am glad I have pictures but it’s my memory that truly brings the pictures to life. I am so thankful to my bridesmaids and family for contributing their time and money to celebrate my impending nuptials and me. Next up: the bachelorette party! Time to do hood rat things with my friends. Until next time!
XOXO
