Journal Entry #2

Will You Be My Bridesmaid

MATRON OF HONOR: Will you hold my dress while I pee? Please be my Matron of Honor.

BRIDESMAIDS: If I promise that there will be no bow on the butt, puffy sleeves, ugly colors, or hideous ruffles…Will you be my Bridesmaid?

After coming off the high of being engaged, which I don’t think I’m fully off of! I knew the next important thing to decide was choosing my bridesmaids. I wanted to choose the ladies in my life who had truly been a support system for Anthony and me over the years. It literally took me minutes to decide on my amazing, wonderful, gorgeous ladies! I knew I wanted something classy and humorous for my girls. I wasn’t sure what! It’s so hard to decide with so many choices. It took me some time to figure out how exactly I wanted to ask my girls to be by my side on my big day. They are scattered all over the world. So, I kept it simple!

I ordered “Will You Be My Bridesmaid” invitations with a custom monogrammed burlap wine bag tote, with their favorite bottle of wine inside, about 10 months before the wedding. I know, I know, it was early, but because we’re having two weddings, I had to ensure they were all committed to the destination wedding. On my wedding day, I will have one Matron of Honor and four Bridesmaids.

Preya: Matron of Honor, My phenomenal big sister who is my right hand.

Andrea: Bridesmaid, My fabulous soon to be sister-in-law and daily texting buddy

Melissa: Bridesmaid, My remarkable childhood best friend. Always giving me great advice.

Lalita: Bridesmaid, My beautiful cousin-in-law. Also, turning my big bougie for my Hindu wedding.

Radha: Bridesmaid, My cousin-in-law. I would not be marrying Anthony if it wasn’t for her.

I searched and searched for an invitation with a little laughter to it. I found the perfect invitation on ETSY. ETSY is the place to go for all personalized items. They have such cute things. I incorporated our colors on the invite. I thought it was cute to color coordinate with everything.

I hand delivered my Matron of Honor and two Bridesmaids invitations. The others I had to mail since they live in different States/Countries. It was difficult to ask all of them at the same time as they are on different time zones and schedules.

As soon as my other bridesmaids received their proposal packets, I received phone calls and text messages saying YES! I was reaffirmed that I had chosen the right women to stand with me. To my newly engaged couples, if I could advice you on what to consider when choosing your wedding party, I would say pick individuals that add to your exciting journey. You’ll have more peace of mind about having your best friends with you throughout the process. I cherish the friendships that I have made and how they have been strengthened through this process. I cannot wait to share in #MrandMrsPitamber2017 with these fabulous ladies!

Each of these ladies have done something extra special in my life. I’m so blessed to have them by my side though this exciting journey.

Until next time…Ciao

Chandra
