Journal Entry #2

“As Ludacris would say, I got bridesmaids in different area codes”

Let me start by saying, I’m an unconventional bride. Or at least, I like to think so. I say that because me and my bridesmaids are in long distance relationships. And just as any other LDR, I was confronted with a ton of obstacles going into this bridesmaid proposal.

Before I got engaged, I thought I knew it all. **SPOILER ALERT** But I had no idea you had to propose to your bridesmaids too.  To be honest, I think I had a tougher time planning this proposal than Cam did when he planned his proposal ( Cam if you’re reading this, sorry, it’s kinda true).

Now, a little bit about my obstacles. For one, each of my bridesmaids are located in different parts of the country. I have two in Los Angeles, one in Orange County, one in Portland, one in Detroit, one in Chicago, and one in Phoenix. As Ludacris would say, I got bridesmaids in different area codes.  Next obstacle, money. For all my newly engaged readers, SAVE EVERYWHERE YOU CAN! And for all my brides-to-be’s who have started planning, can I get an Amen? Weddings are E X P E N S I V E. So, anything free.99 was at the top of my list. Final obstacle, proposing to each at the same time. I thought about mailing a gift box proposal. Cute right? But then I thought about the nightmare of one getting her box first, while the others are anxiously waiting to see if they’ll be next. Or even worse, one getting lost in the mail. Most of my bridesmaids are former dancers, so I didn’t want to trigger any post-traumatic stress syndrome by making them wait to see if they made the cut. I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull off a proposal to seven people at the same time when none of them are in the same place, and on top of that for free. So I went to the place every bride-to-be looks for ideas, Instagram. There it was. Right in front of me, my proposal. I can pop the question on Instagram! FYI–for those of you wondering about my same time obstacle, this was before Instagram’s update that took posts out of chronological order (I’m still unsure how I feel about that update).

Anyway, for the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The proposal details. I took a picture I had of each of the girls and layered typography with their name and the question.

Kinda like a proposal meme! I loved this idea, because I would ask, in front of the world, my bridesmaids if they will be by my side for the biggest day of my life. Luckily for me, they all said yes!

Thank you ladies for being a part of our special day !!
