Lindsay and Joel had a beautiful Spring wedding in New Jersey on May 6, 2017. Both the wedding ceremony, which was held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica, and the reception, held at Pleasantdale Chateau, were coordinated with touches of white and blushed pink.
The Love story of Lindsay and Joel
Joel was out with friends, dressed for a night of cocktails and dancing; enter Lindsay garbed in gym clothes, no makeup, and smiling ear to ear. He had to get the backstory. What he got was a night of dancing and a strange new phone contact called “interesting girl.”
About a year and a half later, Joel gave Lindsay a kit with 12 days of Christmas gifts – each to be opened the following day from the previous. The first day were plane tickets to St. Augustine, Florida – and so they went. After a day of exploration, Joel took Lindsay through the park during the trail of lights ceremony after a sunset ride on a horse and buggy. It was there, he asked Lindsay to open her next day of Christmas gift. Inside, she found a letter that ended with a trailing ellipse and when she looked up Joel took over with his words and dropped to one knee… asking her to marry him. After the proposal, they went to a local fine dining spot where Lindsay and Joel’s families were both waiting to surprise her. The next morning, the 4th day of Christmas gift had the newly engaged pair headed off to Peru with many more adventures to unfold.
From The Coordinated Bride Lindsay:
We wanted to find a balance between earthen simplicity, romance, and elegance. We held the ceremony at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Basilica to capture a beautiful architectural feat and our Catholic roots. Then convened for the reception at the Pleasantdale Chateau and enjoyed its rustic beauty. We decided on a romantic color palate, including blush for the bridesmaids, black for the groomsmen, and an abundance of blush peonies, pink and white roses, and white orchids. Guests walked through an arch of flowers as they entered the ballroom, centerpieces cascading white and pink flowers and the sweetheart table was placed under an arch of flowers and hanging candles.
We had our beloved English Bulldog, Zoey, – who totally pulled off her own wedding dress — arrive by escort for pre-reception photos, which included me doing yoga poses in her dress. Scattered throughout the cocktail hour were pictures of our family and friends, as well as a table toasting to generations of love within our family. The escort table included champagne bottles with labels informing guests that a donation was made in their honor to Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK). MSK is especially close to our hearts given our brother’s recent diagnosis with cancer and successful completion of treatment weeks before our wedding. During the father of the bride speech, guests gave our brother a standing ovation, and we made a speech to welcome guests and asked them to not only celebrate our marriage but also the many life events that occurred the past year. We surprised our junior bridesmaid with a cake to honor her birthday, which was the day of our wedding. We also had personalized desserts including our favorites (e.g. fried oreos, gold doughnuts, coconut ice pops) and a bonfire with marshmallows and late-night diner food at the after-party. Finally, we made sure every guest stood on the dance floor at the end of the night for a whole-room shot from above to capture the love and presence of all our guests.
Before our wedding, Joel gave me a hand made heart with the lyrics of their wedding song and I gave Joel a passport holder with the coordinates of were we met and would soon get married engraved in it.
